Brent Haverkamp – Founder

Brent Haverkamp grew up in a small, blue-collar farming community in northwestern Iowa, where hard work and perseverance were a part of everyday life. While Brent’s mother came from a local farm family, his father made a bold decision as a young man to immigrate to Iowa from Holland without knowing how to speak any English.

Perhaps this is where Brent developed his entrepreneurial spirit.

In 1992, six months after graduating from Iowa State University, Brent bought his first rental property. In 1994, after accumulating a few more rental properties while working for the university, Brent bet on himself and started both a computer network consulting company and—with the building of an 8-plex—Haverkamp Properties.

Over the next 30 years and multiple market cycles, Brent’s vision and entrepreneurial spirit have led to today’s Haverkamp Group. An organically grown, vertically integrated, self-managing collection of companies focused on real estate development, construction, and management.

Still, with all that Brent has achieved personally and professionally, when asked what the proudest moment of his career has been, his response was, “I hope I haven’t seen that yet.”
